Roundtable Discussion on the Improvement of the Glossary and the Preparation and Publication of the Books Encyclopedia of Shashmaqom and Falak and Dictionary of Traditional Tajik Musical Terminology

Today, January 21, 2026, a roundtable discussion was held at the State Institution Chief Scientific Editorial Board of the Tajik National Encyclopedia with the participation of distinguished art scholars and professors Asliddin Nizomi, Farogat Azizi, Qurbon Qurboniyon, and Jonibek Asroriyon, Candidate of Historical Sciences. The meeting focused on improving the glossary and on the preparation and publication of the books Encyclopedia of Shashmaqom and Falak and Dictionary of Traditional Tajik Musical Terminology.

In his opening remarks, S. S. Husayni, Editor-in-Chief of the institution, noted that the views of professional experts are always valuable in refining the glossary of any specialized encyclopedia. He expressed hope that the preparation of these two books would be completed within the established timeframe with the broader involvement of Tajik art scholars.

The participants emphasized that the publication of these works is important for the study and promotion of the values of traditional Tajik musical culture and for the development of contemporary musical trends in the country.

It should be noted that this event was held within the framework of implementing the relevant provisions of the State Program for the Development of the Art of Shashmaqom, Falak, and the Traditional “Master–Apprentice” School for 2024–2028. This initiative may also help create a foundation for the future preparation of an Encyclopedia of Tajik Music.
